Virtual Ball-2020
25 May 2021Historically our annual balls took place in North London, where we hosted them in a number of other venues in the locality, including Tottenham town Hall.
In 2005, to celebrate our 25th anniversary, we moved to Wandsworth Town Hall, where we have continued to hold our end of year ball on the last Saturday in November. This event has long been the highlight of our fundraising activities. A central part of this event is the banquet provided by Pierre catering.
For 2020 we had to re-imagine our ball and like the concert, we took this online. Daddy Ernie was back on board to be the compare and along with our very own DJ, Peter H, to play some sweet tunes. We were truly blessed with the support we received from artist based both here in the UK and in Jamaica. FHFJ has a cherished relationship with a large number of artists based in the UK, who over the years have been overwhelmingly generous with their time and talents. However, in November when we reached out to artists in Jamaica we were thankful to receive support from George Nooks, Oliver Samuels & minister Kukudoo. We divided our entertainment into three sections: Hors d’oeuvre, Entree and Deserts. Our longstanding caterer, Pierre, was invited to deliver a set meal on a take-away basis. This offer was taken up by several members and supporters. Through tickets sales and donations we raised a total of £2287.28 following the online ball.
