The Heart Foundation of Jamaica
The Heart Foundation of Jamaica (HFJ) is a non-profit organisation that provides both basic and advanced screening for heart disease at a subsidised rate in Jamaica.
One of the main objectives of the Heart Foundation of Jamaica is preventing the onset or re-occurrence of heart disease, in an effort to achieve its objectives, the Foundation offers several services. These services include;
Initial screening of the heart and blood work to assess whether or not the patient is at risk for heart disease.
Testing: Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar, Cholesterol and Haemoglobin.
Training for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs to learn CPR.
Healthy Heart Education.
Healthy Heart clubs are based in schools and educate children & Young people on healthy choices and healthy lifestyles.
They also advocate for polices that promotes heart health in Jamaica, around tobacco control, sugar in soft drinks and labelling on food.
HFJ works closely with the Ministry of Health on programmes that combats obesity.
